Stunning Experimental Violin Bow – Germany circa 1920-1930
$1,200.00
A violin bow with an artisanal twist. The stick is pernambuco with a new tip armor facial. The winding is just a simple single long piece of leather 88.0 mm in length. Simple goat leather so as not to divert attention to more silver in the frog area and keep the bow on the lighter side. The frog is avant-garde in look and so original. The maker pushed the boundaries in the traditional bow world. The silver work is exceptional and very different than what was acceptable in the very traditional violin bow world of the 1920-1930’s. The center is ebony and the mother-of-pearl slide is now green opal – added here at the shop. The original pearl was worn out and in no way fitting or able to be salvaged. The frog is sterling silver and the ferrule and endscrew complete the bow in sterling too. The sterling cap is fitted over a piece of pernambuco. The bow has no issues and compares 3 mm shorter in length than of a modern full size violin bow. The overall balance of the bow works and comes in at 9.5“ or 24.2 cm. Players are always longing to get a different sound from their instrument. The bow plays well and has some fight in the stick. If you’re looking for something different that plays this bow is truly special.
