Polish-born Richard Grünke began his apprenticeship in 1945 at the age of 15 in the shop of Edwin Herrmann of Schönlind and completed it in the workshop of H.R. Pfretzschner in the mid-to-late 1940's. After working in other shops for a number of years, he opened his own workshop in 1975. In 1996 he opened a new workshop with his sons, and he is still active today known as master bow maker.

The bow has no issues and is perfect condition for the professional musician or conservatory student looking for a firm stick with great balance and performance. It is crafted from choice pernambuco and the taper from the octagonal section transitions to the well-formed head showing off the precision knife work used to make the chamfers. The tip is cut in bone and the gold mounted bow is complemented by the ebony frog with an abalone slide and gold rings around the mother-of-pearl Parisian eyes. The frog displays the Grünke logo/brand: a crossbow with the RG initials in the bow. Finishing the bow is a three-piece gold and ebony adjuster with an abalone inset.

Weight fully haired 63.2 grams.
