The violin was made in Czech Republic for the trade and is very well done. It is a Stradivarius model in very good to excellent condition. The f holes have some fluting work which tells me some hand work was done there and at the bee stings. The scroll is a traditional Strad style and fully finished out by hand as the scroll continues its lines into the peg box. I have completed the violin in better ebony fittings and cut a new soundpost and a Despiau Grade B bridge. I also added a German Wittner tailpiece.
Corpus 356.5 mm. Major Width 209.0 mm. Minor Width 169.0 mm. Rib Height 30.0 mm.
The violin has a great response that is evident on both the bass side and the treble strings. The violin is even in all the voices and very much surprised me with the maturity of tone and the playability. The violin is easy to get around on and grabs your ear in the brilliance of the E and A. This will make a fine instrument for the player looking to step up into a more resonant sound and get out of a rental level violin.
