Paul K Berger Violin
Paul Berger is a Pennsylvania maker who studied under the direction of RJ Storm of Beacon, NY. Paul learned old world Italian School techniques that he has incorporated into all the instruments he makes. The violin pattern is based on a Del Jesu model instrument. Paul used beautiful European maple he acquired in the 1970’s and a tight grain Italian spruce for the top plate. The instrument is fitted in ebony and the pegs are Parisian eye. The spirit varnish is a lush deep amber brown with a touch of orange all on an amber ground.
The sound on this instrument is dark and rich and the tonal qualities of the upper registrar are clear and vibrant. This instrument has some power. If you’re a player doing some solo playing too this one should be on your trial list.
