Founded in the United States in 2004, L’Archet Brasil had a mission to distribute bows made by skilled luthiers in Brazil. The business model was that L’Archet would distribute the bows in the U.S. and the bowmakers would retain their independence. L’Archet has since expanded to Europe and Japan. In Portugal, they have five bowmakers and three apprentices.

The bow was handmade in Portugal by Tiogas Surrage for J.R. Judd Violins. He is one of the younger fine bow makers working for L’Archet Brazil. The bow is round-section, pernambuco, and mounted in sterling silver with sterling tinsel with black silk accent thread. The ebony frog is a Parisian eye model; mother-of-pearl eyes surrounded by thin silver ring. The mother-of-pearl slide has a quilted look. The frog is fully lined, and the bow is finished with a leather thumb grip, bone tip, and the adjuster is a solid silver octagonal cap with a double turn in the collar. This is a fine sterling mounted bow made from pernambuco in 2025. The wood was already sourced in Europe and made by Tiogas in Portugal. It is a fine sterling bow for a serious player.
