The German workshop SIR (formed by luthiers Stöhr, Illner, and Reidl) produces impeccable handmade instruments. Using European maple and spruce that has aged for at least 10 years, the tone quality and craftsmanship of the instruments from the shop are world renowned. This is a very responsive instrument that is extremely playable. The SIR series of instruments were honored at the Manchester International Cello Festival in 1992 with both the “Best of Sound” and “Of Merit” awards.
