ERICH STEINER Brazilwood German #7B Model Butler Bass Bow circa 1990’s

We have a half-lined #7B Butler bass bow made in Germany from the Steiner workshop. The shop is located just outside the town of Bubenreuth. The town became the hub for woodworkers and carvers of all types soon after World War II. This bow is new/old stock from 1990’s. This family of bow makers makes bows in pernambuco and in brazilwood. I know two professional bass players that play on pernambuco Steiner bows, one in the Midwest and one in Upstate New York.

This bow is brazilwood, half lined, round in section, and mounted in nickel silver. The frog is a step up from the model #6 bow. The frog has 10.0 mm mother-of-pearl eyes, and the wood is a better grade of brazilwood. The bow is firm and has some nice fight in the stick. The tip is completed in bone, and the thumb leather is goat. If you are looking for a better sound off your bass, allowing the bass to speak and resonate differently than with a carbon fiber bow, you need to try this bow. The bow is made to German detail, and this workshop takes great pride in crafting fine bows in pernambuco and brazilwood. The stick is brazilwood which also gives you a great price for a stick. The bow weighs 136.1 grams fully haired; not too light and not too heavy. This stick would make a great choice for a player in middle school, high school, or college. This bow is a great choice to match with a Shen Model 80, Shen 88, or a Shen Hybrid Bass. It is a hard to beat very decent stick at this price.
