EMILE DUPREE
GERMANY with FRANCE stamped directly on top of Germany

We have a 20th century pernambuco violin bow in round section. The bow is in very good condition. The “Emile Dupree” name was a trade name used to sell bows before and after the second World War. The stick shows both stamps of origin: FRANCE superimposed on top of what I believe to GERMANY on the bottom just behind the frog on the butt of the stick. I believe it to be a German stick. The bow is finished off in nickel mounts and was made for the Metropolitan Music Co. to be sold in America. We replaced the winding in nickel silver and the thumb grip in goat leather. The bow is light in the hand with the overall weight under 60.0 grams. The pernambuco violin bow has a nickel mounted Parisian eye frog with a fully-lined one-piece heel and beautiful color in the pearl work. The color on the bow is a transparent light orange/brown color. The clarity of the wood and the visibility of the grain in the wood also caused me to notice the quality of this bow and put more time into the stick by replacing the tip facial, and new winding and leather.
