This violin is a well preserved example of a nicer E.R. Schmidt workshop instrument. These violins were made in Markneukirchen, Germany in the the late 19th Century into the early 20th Century. E.R. Schmidt was one of the internationally successful companies that help make Markneukirchenthe major hub of the instrument making world. The instrument has a great two-piece maple back plate which is complimented by a beautiful craquelure varnish. Nice patina and color. The violin has power and nice sustain. A great violin for the up and coming young violinist.
