* ALFRED KNOLL *

Our Alfred Knoll viola bow is of high quality sterling silver mounted in an ebony frog and of pernambuco specie in octagonal section. The bow is from the esteemed workshop of the Knoll family in the Bavarian village of Oberprex. Alfred founded the firm in 1932, and this darker classic viola bow came from an important period in the history of the workshop, which is now managed by Gerald Knoll, the founder’s grandson. The bow is an excellent example of the high standards the Knoll shop achieved for over 50 years. This is a strong, firm bow that feels well-balanced and is restrained in its ornamentation, sterling silver mounted, mother of pearl slide, and mother-of-pearl single eye mounted in the frog. We have set up the entire bow here in our workshop and it is ready to play.
This viola bow has a strong stick with a quick response time. The bow is of the higher end of the company’s production and the stick proves it. It is a wow on firmness and production of clean and full tone. The bow has great control and feels very nice in the hand. The bow would suit an advancing player.
