The bow is stamped TOURTE on the players side and GERMANY on the bottom flat of the stick directly behind the frog. The bow also has # 23 branded on the stick, telling me that this bow was in a collection or fine violin shop at some point in is history. After World War I and World War II many of the German luthiers could not sell their instruments and bows with a German name. They simply could not make a living. The makers found that they could place French or Italian names on their items and their instruments and bows sold. This cello bow falls in that era of mislabeling to make a living. This is a very nice cello bow with beautiful pernambuco wood, nickel silver mounts, octagonal in section and a gorgeous color in the stick. We have gone over the entire bow, cleaned it up and haired the stick. Everything on the bow is original! The frog does have a slight nick in the ebony at the curved end audience side which is almost not noticeable. Other than that, almost perfect condition. The bow has flexibility and the stick leans more to the firm side, which I really like. The stick is lightweight and easy to control. A cellist loved this bow and took great care of it for a generation or two. The bow is ready for another 80-90 years. German quality from a highly regarded area with French branding.

Weight fully haired 74.3 grams.
