FINKEL- bows have been used by musicians since 1868. Johannes Finkel is the fourth generation of the Finkel & Weidhaas bowmaking family. He was trained by his father Siegfried, who moved from Markneukirchen to Switzerland in 1952. His grandfather was Paul Weidhaas – who studied with Bausch and Fétique in Paris before opening his own workshop in Markneukirchen. Johannes completed his apprenticeship and then worked for some years at J.&A. Beare, Hans Weisshaar in Los Angeles and William Moennig in Philadelphia. He returned home to Switzerland in 1975. Johannes took over his father’s the workshop in Schwanden/Brienz and now works with three other talented bowmakers: Werner Ernst, Marcus Fischer and J.M. Lüthi.

This pernambuco specie bow is of orange-brown color and of octagonal section, plain German silver in a blind eye mounted ebony frog, three-part German silver adjuster inlaid with pearl eye and imitation whalebone winding.
