Older Markneukirchen Violin Bow Stamped Hell circa 1925 -1930
$895.00

Stamped:
This bow was made by German maker Franz Hell in the Markneukirchen area between the World Wars. The Hell family was from Bohemia, now called the Czech Republic, engaged in violin making in the Schönbach region. Franz probably immigrated like many other families after World War I into Germany.
This is an excellent dark red/brown colored bow in pernambuco and cut in round section. The mount is nickel silver, and the frog is a Parisian eye model. The two-piece heel plate and the lining are attached with silver pins. This is a lightweight gem for the player looking for a great stick that feels like a feather in the hand. The stick is streamlined, firm, and shows signs of normal playing wear, which is a great sign to see.
I went over the entire bow, cleaning, new winding with a leather thumb grip. The head is in very good condition, and the tip is original. Beautiful pearl slide and eyes with a little wear on the three-piece end screw. This is a good playing bow with excellent balance. Franz is also recognized as a violin maker, but he is more noted for his bow work.
