Non-Stamped German Model Bass Bow- Markneukirchen circa 1930
$605.00

This is a German model bass bow made for the trade post-World War I. During this era many German shops left off the maker’s name and origin on the stick. Many bows would have been branded with a French or Italian sounding name to market the bow. Purposely, there are no markings on this stick. The bow would have simply been placed in a bass outfit headed for sale at a music company. The West, especially England and America, were purposely not importing items coming from Germany.
These bows are very cost effective and considering what is happening with pernambuco in South America and the lack of bow production or even complete stoppage of bow making in pernambuco wood I have decided to get all my bows in the workshop restored and ready for the showroom. The bow is amber/orange/brown in color, older strong pernambuco. The stick is round in section with a blind eye frog that is handmade. The mother-of-pearl slide has great color. Just a tad of sparkle. The frog is mounted in nickel silver, and the head is original and in great condition. I used an 80.0 mm piece of goat leather to make an old-style wind. This helped with keeping the weight off the bow and is a neat feel. This stick is better than nice, about 90 years old bow and in great condition. The stick is German craftsmanship, pernambuco, firm in its makeup, no famous maker provenance, just a nice playing stick.
