FERRARI – player’s side

We have a German trade bow made pre-World War II. The bow is pernambuco, octagonal in section, and nickel silver mounted. The frog is rounded, but it is a violin bow. The skill of workmanship is evident in this trade bow that tapers artistically to the tip. This is another bow from my collection of sticks acquired with the help of my dad back in the late 1970’s when I was a high school kid living just outside of New York City in New Jersey and totally into all things violin and baseball. For many years we visited estate sales, private sales, and instrument auctions. This bow has been laying in my bow box for over 40 years. Yes, finally completed. The layout of this stick is very nice; well balanced with a gradual camber. The frog has single mother-of-pearl eyes and the frog is finished off with a three-piece end button. Yes, a German bow with no maker’s actual name. I have given the stick a new nickel winding and leathers. Easily an 80-year-old bow that plays well.
