F. Modenese Gold Mounted Ipe Violin Bow – Brazil 2025
$4,895.00
Stamped:
IPE – on butt of the bow
We have a gold mounted violin bow made by Frank Modenese of Brazil in 2025. The bow is ipe, a strong bow, in round section. The wood has a fine luster, shows dense grain, and is just oiled. The bow is gold mounted in a Parisian eye model. The ebony that makes up the frog is from southern India. The detail work is at a high level with the fitting tolerances to the thousandth of an inch. The camber begins quickly behind the head like a Sartory bow. The frog has very colorful pearl eyes and tiger stripe in the pearl slide. This is an exceptional piece of wood – it is easy to see why it was selected for the gold fittings.
