ERICH STEINER

We have a half-lined bass bow made in Germany from the Steiner workshop The shop is located just outside the town of Bubenreuth. The town became the hub for woodworkers and carvers of all types soon after World War II. This bow is new/old stock from 1990’s. This family of bow makers makes bows in pernambuco and in brazilwood. I know two professional bass players that play on pernambuco Steiner bows, one in the Midwest and one in Upstate New York.

The bow is brazilwood, half lined, round in section and mounted in nickel silver. If you are looking for a better sound off your bass, allowing the bass to speak and resonate differently than with a carbon fiber bow, you need to try this bow. The bow is made well and the workshop for many years took great pride in crafting fine bows in pernambuco and brazilwood. This stick is brazilwood which gives you a great price for a stick. The bow has a gram weight of 134.2 grams fully haired. Not too light and not too heavy. This stick would make a great choice for a player in high school or college. This bow is a great choice for a Shen Model 80, Shen 88, or a Shen Hybrid Bass. It is hard to beat a very decent stick at this price
