EDW HERRMANN* – Excellent German Viola Bow – circa 1950’s

A very nice German viola bow in pernambuco specie, fully lined nickel silver mounts in an ebony frog, and is round in section. The bow is stamped “EDW. HERRMANN*” on the players side. The bow was made by Edwin Otto a highly regarded bow maker of the Herrmann family of bow makers from Markneukirchen, Germany. Edwin Otto was active in bow making from the early 1900's to the late 1960's with this bow being made in the 1950's. The bow also contains a nickel-silver winding with leather thumb, mother-of-pearl slide and eyes, leather thumb grip, and a three-piece ebony and nickel-silver button.
