Bernd Dölling Pernambuco Sterling Mount Violin Bow– Wernitzgrün circa 1972-1977
$2,400.00

Stamped:
Bernd Dölling (born 1942) learned the craft of bow making from his father Heinz Dölling in Wernitzgrün between 1959 and 1961. He remained in his father’s shop, even after completing his master’s examination in 1972. After his master’s examination he started stamping his bows with BERND DOLLING. In 1977 he began to stamp his bows with also the month and the year the bow was completed. Our bow was made before the additional date stamping. In January of 1985 Bernd opened his own shop in Wernitzgrün. The style of his bows, which initially were strongly influenced by his father’s work, has developed to express his own character. Bern’s violin and viola bows follow the general model of E. Sartory, although he sometimes uses an F.N. Voirin model. In 1998 Bernd Dölling, his father Heinz, and his son Michael celebrated the 100-year jubilee of bow making in the Dölling family.
This is a fantastic Bernd Dölling violin bow, elegant in its makeup. The wood, pernambuco, has a beautiful red/brown color and is in octagonal section. The head of the bow has a noticeable curve at the front 1/4” of the tip which shows Bernd Dölling’s personal model style head; a strong masculine look. The camber is also strong, and the stick is mounted in sterling silver. The frog has a sterling silver slide, the entire length, and the end button has a middle ebony section that features 2.0 mm silver circle inlays, one for each octagonal facet. The bow is all original, I have replaced nothing except the hair. A professional bow ready to enhance the sound on someone’s violin.
Weight fully haired 61.3 grams.
