Arnold Voigt (1864-1952) was a student of H. T. Heberlein and Schuneman in his hometown and he spent 5 years in London from 1885-1890. For the rest of his life, he lived and worked back in the city of his birth, Markneukirchen. He was a prolific violin maker as well as a very gifted bow maker. Our bow is pernambuco specie, round in section, sterling silver mounted and is a firm, gorgeous piece of wood. Everything about our bow is original. The elegant head is in excellent condition, more French than German. The winding is baleen, the feeding filter of the baleen whale, with a leather thumb. We saved the original winding on the bow and replaced the leather. The frog is ebony with the simple single mother-of -pearl eye and the endscrew is three-piece silver-ebony-silver. The ebony frog has the intertwined ‘AV’ logo embossed into the left flank (player’s side) and it bears Arnold Voigt’s stamp on the shaft in the usual place. The workmanship on this bow is a WoW! The bow is a lightweight gem and is simply gorgeous.
