W. J. Lunn “The Wizard”

Bears the label:

“The Wizard”
Made by W.J. Lunn
1932 No 7

This utterly charming violin was christened by its creator with the name “The Wizard.” We find the name to be appropriate given that the tone seems to conjure images of pubs, celtic music, and a good time. W.J. Lunn is listed in David Rattray's book “Violin Making in Scotland: 1750-1950” with labels for instruments 6 and 8 accounted for. This instrument, No. 7, shows the hand of an imaginative maker not afraid to make an instrument with Rubenesque arching. It's perfect for the traditional player looking for a sweet instrument at home with British Isles fiddling or our own home grown traditional music.
