Master bow by R. Dotschkail, Erlangen, Germany
Reinhold Dotschkail (1923-1996). R. Dotschkail*** branded over the frog on the players side. His craftsmanship is over the top with a head that is beautiful and impressive knife work around the throat. Reinhold came from the Eglandgen region of the Czech Republic, and studied the art of bow making in Graslitz, Germany. During WWII he was driven into exile and in 1951 opened his own workshop in Eltersdorf, Germany which is near the larger university town of Erlangen.
The bow is gorgeous, the color being of a medium-brown pernambuco specie. This stick has strength, it’s firm and I would also label it as a real player. It is octagonal in section, silver mounted frog and silver winding. The ebony frog features mother-of-pearl Parisian eyes and the three-piece silver and ebony button which has a rounded mother-of-pearl end on the button. Very classy.

Weight fully haired 61.3 grams.
