Violins labeled “George Washburn” (a trade name) were imported from France by Lyon & Healy of Chicago from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. These are Mirecourt violins made for the trade and sold exclusively to the American firm under the Washburn name. This is our 2nd Washburn violin in the past year. The sound is outstanding, and the instrument features a two-piece back, light amber-brown varnish and the Washburn stamp on the button. Beautiful workmanship and sounds just as nice, powerful yet warm. The tone is even throughout the register on this one. Perfect for the serious intermediate player.
