Leipzig Violin, circa 1915 – SOLD 9/27/2019
German construction and high quality of woods sets this violin apart. Structurally sound, we restored the peg box with new bushings and carved all new fittings in ebony to complete a traditional look. The instrument is stunning with a blackened chamfered scroll and a deep orange/brown varnish which is highlighted by a good bit of honest wear.
Tonally the instrument is solid and robust. A darker sound under the ear and it projects nicely in a medium size concert hall. The violin is easy to play, comfortable and the sound is even on all four strings. This is a fantastic violin closing in on its centennial and priced under 2K.
