GRIMM – Silver Violin Bow late 19th Century – SOLD 4/5/2019
The bow is branded GRIMM. Karl Grimm and the bow making family goes back to the early 1800’s. The Grimm shop remained in operation up to 1925. The stick is also stamped GERMANY on a side flat of the stick behind the frog. This is a sterling silver bow mounted in a blind eye ebony frog. The pernambuco stick is an exceptional piece of older pernambuco, firm yet with life. The bow feels like a feather in the hand. The balance is very nice and the overall gram weight is 58.0 grams – made as well as any French bow from the same period. The bow is in excellent condition. A very nice playing bow.
