G. A. Pfretzschner – Sterling Silver Viola Bow, circa 1930 – CURRENTLY OUT ON TRIAL –
Master maker G. A. Pfretzschner made this outstanding viola bow near the town of Schönlind, (Saxony). The Pfretzschner family dates back to the 1830’s. This bow is from the late 1920’s and contains the original brand on the frog. This stick has great features you want in a performance bow. It is strong and lightweight. The balance is outstanding. A player will have great control with the stick. It’s a wow! I even tried the stick on some violins. Very nice too. The pernambuco wood is exceptional. It is round in section, sterling silver mount, beautiful mother of pearl eyes and slide and it’s in excellent condition. This bow is a must try for the violist looking for a conservatory level bow.
