We are thrilled to offer this extremely well-preserved 1921 H R Hanson violin. This Norwegian born violin maker came to America around 1900 where he opened his shop in New York. Visually, the wood quality in the flame is a knockout while the instrument’s artistic qualities include inlaid purfling, great lines, beautiful arching and a little artistic license of his own in the f holes. The instrument’s condition is nothing less than remarkable; clearly heavily played yet well-cared for. This Stradivarius pattern boasts a lovely light orange-brown varnish under its patina all on a golden ground. The violin is branded H R HANSON on the lower rib and just below the end button.
Tonally the G string offers a pleasant growl, rich tone with guts, while the mid-range is sweet and full-bodied. A competent player will find it projects easily and supplies more than ample head room. This stunning Hanson violin is without question another terrific American violin.
