This is a carefully looked after, higher quality French violin made at the turn of the century. This beautiful violin came from the town of Mirecourt, a serious professional making area in its day. Belonging to a maker’s guild was the norm. The guild of makers carved at a high level and they made instruments in all grade qualities to suit every one’s pocket book. All the basic concepts of playability and tone quality were always there, these qualities were never sacrificed at any level of instrument. Our violin shows some patina and playing wear which is a good sign. Someone loved this violin and played it a lot. The instrument has much original varnish and I particularly like the clean shape of the lines and overall appearance. It is easy to get around with a corpus length is 157.0 mm. The arching lends itself to a lovely powerful sounding violin.
It has a warm and responsive sound throughout the entire registrar. There are no rough edges or harshness to the tone. This violin has age, tone quality, appearance, structurally very healthy and playability. This will be an awesome step up instrument for the up and coming violinist.
