Bears the label:
This post World War I trade instrument has a sleek look for a 15” type viola. The viola has a Strad neck and cheek area with all ebony fittings to contrast the sunburst orange-brown varnish which is not antiqued but all done above a golden ground base coat. The varnish shows some signs of natural playing wear, but still looks in good condition. The woods are nice with a moderate amount of flame while the spruce top has a very tight grain and is consistently straight. There are no issues with the instrument, We have added a German Wittner tail-piece for ease of tuning.
String Length is 359.0 mm, Rib Height 35.0 mm
The viola has power, with a slightly covered sound. The instrument has a decent sustain and overall, rings well. Nice sound for a trade viola. This viola may be perfect for the violinist looking for a small viola to handle and play small gigs with. A European instrument for a great price.
