This French bow was made by Nicholas Francois Vuillaume in the second half of the nineteenth century. This violin bow is of round section and is of pernambuco specie, mounted in the Vuillaume style with an ebony frog. The Vuillaume style ferrule is of low grade silver. The frog is ornamented with a pearl eye. The button is not original. The weight of the bow is 56 grams, fully haired. The length of the stick is 72.9 cm. The bow is valued at $4500. It contains a certificate of authenticity from Richard W. Riggall, former bowmaker at the Moenning shop in Philadelphia.
